A ‘Workshop on Leadership Attributes’ was conducted on 28th December, 2022, at Bhubaneswar for senior leaders (HOPs, GMs, AGMs, HOHRs, and other senior executives) of ER-2. The Workshop was conducted in association with SHRM India with the objective of building awareness, momentum and understanding of the Gold and Unacceptable Standards of the four Leadership attributes (Ownership, Speed, Empowerment/risk taking, Growth) identified as part of the exercise towards ‘Corporate Restructuring of NTPC’ and for ‘Strengthening of NTPC’s Performance Culture’.
The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Ashim Kumar Goswami, Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region-II)
Shri Rajnish Rastogi, GM(HR), ER II welcomed all participants, Shri Bosco D’ Mello (the master facilitator and subject matter expert from SHRM) and other dignitaries. In his address, he informed the participants about the purpose of the workshop and requested all the senior leaders to contribute towards the cascading of the four leadership attributes at their respective sites.
Shri Ashim Kumar Goswami in his address, shared various perspectives on leadership. He stressed on the need to be agile and flexible to deal with the challenges and opportunities of today’s dynamic business environment. Expressing his confidence in the team, he outlined the need to constantly innovate and create new benchmarks. He exhorted the participants to not only learn about the identified attributes but ensure that it is practiced across their teams. At the end of the Workshop, he also took feedback from the participants on the learnings / take-aways from the workshop. The Participants were appreciative of the Workshop for valuable insights and inputs about leading effectively in the changed business scenario.
Shri Sebastian Joseph, Executive Director (HR), in his address informed the Participants that the Workshop was being conducted in order to strengthen NTPC’s performance culture. He stated that considering NTPC’s future growth plans and commitments towards becoming a Net Zero emitter of GHG by the year 2070, the company would require to keep reinventing itself in order to sustain its leadership position in the sector.
The key HR Initiatives, the thrust areas, the modifications in Executive Promotion Policy and modalities for promotion of specialist cadre executives were also shared with the Participants.
